Style Me......

Let me define individual style....I dont see the lights that we call fashion as a means for attention. My sense of style is only for me. I dress the way I feel. Others dress to be seen. People wear certain things and labels as a means to fit in society & to be accepted by their peers.
You shouldnt have to dress a certain way to be accepted. If people dont like you because of your clothes, then you dont need to surround yourself with those people. I have a spiritual freedom to the way I express myself. I am the voice that no one can speak for. Walking in my own shoes.
As a visual artist & seamstress having a fashion design & merchandising major in college. I can appreciate the aesthetic of apparel more than the normal shopper. The term fashionista sits with me, BUT..... I am more of a collector of natural, authentic vintage apparel. Antiques always give me a sense of purity by witnessing fashions from the 50s & 60s. The textiles were stronger and more luxuriously fit. Garments were manufactured better items werent rushed through mass production factories. I am more of the Natural hippie chic, unisexed business casual, urban, galactic goddess inside her own realm. Very different & extremely eclectic. Never caring what anyone things.
Shoes & undergarments.... My main accessories in life. I'd rather live my life naked in my natural, beautiful skin..... But we all know that is not possible, maybe. Anyway, I can honestly say my fetish is for shoes. I will buy 3 pair of shoes before I even think about buying clothes to wear with the shoes. I always saw it harder to buy clothes, then have trouble finding shoes to match. I see it happen too much. I have a thing for having what no one has, & recreating items with my art.
Victoria's Secret, Chuck Taylors, high heels & alot of vintage no names.... Loafers, silk high-waist briefs (granny ps), thigh high socks, neckties, suspenders, cords, corset bustiers & bras, cardigans, retro eyeglasses, mens blazers, high waist pants, equestrian boots, button up shirts & vintage or organic cotton retro tshirts & skirts. Though im more of a black colored woman when it comes to a color palette for my wardrobe, there is always a natural toned accessory or piece that accompanies & compliments the dark tone. Blacks, greys, whites & blues. Anything with great textile & design aesthetic, strong fabric quality.
Artistic value has alot to do with what I choose to buy and wear on my body when it comes to apparel. My clothes define parts of who I am as a person because I let my clothes speak for me. My personality is strong because im not afraid to challenge the norm and create my own box. Disregarding what society has to say about me. Compliments come from confidence and the way you carry yourself in what you wear. If the clothes dont fit or feel right, then I dont feel right. And its not very often that I dont feel right. Love what you wear & wear what you look. Whether your clothed or not. Accept your gifts & be confident in you. -QueenSoulSista

Scarifications on Surface

Freedom of speech, emotion, & expression.

ART!
On the body or on the canvas.

My body is my art, more than the pre-stretched canvas that the acrylic sets in.

I let the ink settle deep, not just on my surface but through the circumference of my dermis.

More permanent than the epidermis......

More people tend to judge scarifications and body modifications as sin, but from birth and early childhood years do parents pierce their childrens ears, and in other coutries are tattoos and scarifications rituals and ceremonies for youth to enter adulthood.

Understanding and openmind acceptance are things that are hard for people to do without passing judgment on decisions of others. This blog link below shows different rituals and body modifications/scarifications in other regions of the world that some percieve as taboo, and others see as acceptance in religion and ancestry.

http://unusual-things.blogspot.com/2009/01/extreme-body-piercing-branding.html

If we havent known by history that Otzi the IceMan, King Tut and Buddha had stretched earlobes. These are figures that have progressed and gave life to our futures. Many Buddhist monks follow rituals by tattooing their bodies with ancient art that classifies their status in society. Through research shows that even mummies of pharoahs and egyptians had tattoos. Same as we do in society today.

Sometimes we need to ask questions and try to acknowledge other perceptions of why they do things in life and hear their explanations of what they do to their body and the meanings that these modifications carry. It may be so much more deeper than you could ever know by just looking and being critical.

Many critiques throughout society associate tattoos and other body modifications as taboo between gender. I dont understand this because in life, women deal with the most pain as far as childbirth. And is a known fact that most women have a higher tolerance for pain than men. Either way, I believe however you choose to depict your life and art through your body is BEAUTIFUL, and should be appreciated. Pain isnt forever, but spirit and soul is...........

So next time you see me, with my current 8 tattoos, and soon to be sleeved left or right arm. 4 ear piercings, 2 of which are currently being stretched. 1 nose piercing, and 1 navel ring. If you choose to pass judgment, just keep moving or take this...

....because I dont care to accept critiques and judgment from people who arent open to the free expression of others. This life is for Art and that is what I choose to live. My Body is my art. The moving Canvas. And I'm not stopping aanytime soon, as long as my body permits me to give it temporary pain, we will endulge in the gifts. I am in the rebellion! Drastic moves to be made. Lioness and Queen of all nature. Inner spirit and outer space.

Are you FLAWED?!?!?!?

Had a great question from a very dear friend of mine today!! Discussion brought upon great thoughts and life options to think about!

Vanna' Shanee **Question: What physical flaws can u overlook when finding ur mate, or even in ur current mate??? seriously**

QSS: But all flaws should be able to be overlooked if you want some1 in your life.

Vanna' Shanee: amen sis... but u know the flesh dnt feel that!

QSS: tru, but those who feel that way and look at life in that manner are the same ones hoein around and aren't happy with life because they only see what's on the outside and all inside factors are overthrown! If people can't understand that all true beauty is built from within your soul and spirit, and they are selfishly portraying greed within themselves. You can be the most beautiful person on the outside but have the most disgusting, disrespectful, ill-mannered personality! Now does that make you beautiful? No! A pretty/handsome face doesn't make up for ugly personalities!

Vanna' Shanee: U hit that right on the nose sis... It's like man has cum so accustomed to what society says is beautiful that they turn around from what truly matters. If a person has an ugly soul how can they ever be beautiful, cute, etc? Everything that looks good aint good for u. Then to have that outlook on someone else when there's probably someone out there that feels the same about u. Judge people by whats inside and not outside!

My Own Interpretations:
Love in life is about accepting everything that comes your way and appreciating its gifts! If there are certain things that you feel judgmental about your spouse or certain things in your relationship, than you need to ask yourself if your love and relationship is worth your time! Point that its simple and exact. If any person really wants a successful and happy, healthy relationship, they have to do what is best for their mind and heart, not focusing on things that are appealing to sight and touch. People dont understand that looks dont last forever and that a true love, lasts deep in the heart. That is something that cant be taken away. All is all, flaws, criticism, judgments are only words in sight that can deplete the confidence, integrity and respect between two people in a relationship.

"All love lasts a lifetime when the heart is open and eyes are closed!"
